Investor seeks student?

I've seen a lot of these signs around town,and was thinking of giving it a try. Has anyone tried this ? Is it a scam? Do you earn as you learn or is it not a survivable wage while you learn? What does it entail are you the patsy while the investor gets off scott free? Anyone?
